Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Clos Pepe Vineyard has chocolate covered cherries, baking spice and sautéed herbs notes over a core of mulberries, red currant jelly and wild blueberries. Full-bodied, rich, ripe and spicy in the mouth, it has lovely plush tannins and just enough freshness framing the gregarious fruit, finishing long.
Clos Pepe features bright cherry, with a hint of darker berry fruit. There is well integrated oak - just subtly spicy and warm, but not overwhelming the vineyard character. The palate opens up beautifully and is full and lush with bright minerality on the finish - a distinguishing characteristic of the Clos Pepe site. Flavors of dark berry coulis mingle with fresh earth and hints of smoked paprika that lead into a well textured finish.
