Healthy dark red--although none of these wines are crystal-clear as they were not fined or filtered. Very dark scents of blackberry, cassis and black cherry suggest a rather muscular wine. Densely packed and tightly wound, with an impression of ripe acidity framing and enlivening the youthful flavors of cassis, blackberry, cocoa powder, mocha and spices. No sign of either greenness or heat here. The tannins spread out horizontally to saturate the palate on the firm, long back end. (Stephen Tanzer)
This 2013 Frederick is packed with herbal characteristics and summer fruits such as cherries, strawberries, blackberries. The wine is rich with a firm texture. Tannins are abundant but soft and lingering on an impressively long finish.
80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc
