Caparzo's 2012 Brunello di Montalcino is a mid-weight expression with bright berry aromas and a traditional approach stylistically speaking. This Brunello aged in large oak casks made from Slavonian and French oak. In fact, it shows a streamlined and compact texture with buoyant aromatic intensity. The focus is on raspberry, cherry and plum with distinct shadings of spice, licorice, tar and blue flower at the back. The overall effect is inviting and genuine. The mouthfeel is thin, but the wine offers nice freshness instead. Drink 2017-2025.

Fresh and refined, this opens with alluring aromas of wild berry, crushed herb, pressed violet and a whiff of dark spice. The vibrant medium-bodied palate offers sour cherry, pomegranate, licorice and a hint of white pepper framed in taut fine-grained tannins. Drink 2019-2027.
The color is garnet red, intense and brilliant, with light orange hints. The aromas are penetrating, very full and varied, reminiscent of wild berries. On the palate it is dry, warm, full-bodied, harmonious, delicate and austere at the same time, persistent.
