Tun 1509 is a limited-edition release from Balvenie where malt master gets to pick some of his favourite casks and marry them together to create his ultimate Balvenie. Batch 5 is a vatting of 29 casks: bourbon barrels, sherry butts, sherry hogsheads and refill American oak casks. All were transferred to Tun 1509, which sits in Warehouse 24, for several months before bottling. Tun is a rare interpretation of the marrying process and allows our most mature casks of various vintages to come together to create a unique expression of The Balvenie that is greater than the sum of its constituent parts. Nose: Rich and malty, sweet toffee vanilla fudge, layers of honeycomb and citrus. Palate: Luscious malty notes and concentrated honey gradually developing into deeper richer oak with some dried fruits and a cinnamon and ginger spiciness. Finish: Luxurious and honeyed with delicate spices and oak. 105. 2 Proof
