Ritual is a labor of love. It connects us to the land we farm, to healthy living soil, and to the daily rituals of artisanal winemaking. The estate is situated in the extreme eastern end of Chile’s Casablanca Valley, set against the dramatic sweeping beauty of the coastal range and heavily influenced by the cooling effects of the Pacific Ocean and Humboldt Current -ideal growing conditions for cool climate wines. Following organic practices, the winemaking team uses compost to feed the soils to promote a balanced and self-regulated ecosystem, cover cropping and seeding for revitalizing the soils and sheep to help mow the grass and act as a natural fertilizer. The vineyards are surrounded by 6000 acres of native forest, creating a balanced, biodiverse landscape for healthy vines to thrive alongside natural wildlife corridors and native vegetation. Winemaker Sofia Araya produces Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, and the wines are aged in combinations of neutral oak, concrete eggs, and stainless-steel tanks.
Wine maker notes
Ritual Chardonnay comes from vineyards located at the feet of the native forest surrounding the Casablanca estate, at 345 masl, with a 10% slope. These conditions give way to intense fruit flavors and complexity. An elegant wine of yellow-green color, with expressive aromas of quince, apple and hazelnut notes intertwined with subtle hints of oak and vanilla. Soft, elegant and creamy texture with a remarkable roundness and a long finish.
For more than 25 years Veramonte has been recognized in Chile and worldwide for the consistent quality of its wines. Veramonte produces distinctive wines that are expressions of their origins. The winery is located in Casablanca, being one of the first wineries to plant in the Casablanca valley in the late 1990s when it was unknown to the wine industry. Veramonte was the first to invest seriously in the area and the project expanded later into other valleys and brands, with vineyards in the renowned winemaking regions of Casablanca (perfect for whites and cool-climate reds) and Colchagua (warmer and ideal for red varietals). Veramonte follows organic practices throughout their estate, ensuring optimum conditions for vine growth and that the vineyards are sustainable over time. Living, balanced soil produces quality grapes that express the fullest potential of the terroir.
