Among theunder-the-radar producers in the northern Rhone, this 20-hectare domaine, has been run by brothers Eric and Joel Durand since 1996. It’s a shame because the wines warrant more attention while pricing is quite friendly given the quality delivered. Domaine Durand produces a collection of generous, fruit-driven and polished wines that’s led by four Cornas bottlings consistently among the most approachable of the appellation. New oak has played a part in all of the wines’ upbringing but I rarely find its statement to be pronounced. The Durands have been de-emphasizing the use of oak in recent vintages, much like many of their neighbors. From Elegance Returns to the Northern Rhone in 2016 (Jun 2018) by Josh Raynolds |

The vineyard is owned by two brothers: Eric and Joël . Their vineyards cover 13 ha (8 ha of Saint Joseph and 5 ha of Cornas). They took over the family estate and started bottling our wine in 1991. They work hard to ensure their harvests will be fully expressive of the terroir. They love wines that have personality but are still fine and elegant. |
