A sublime Islay malt. The 25 year old Bowmore combines the Islay smoke and coastal character with a beautiful sweetness and richness from Sherry casks. Complex and layered, released in small batches to create a gentle mix of Smoke and Sherry. Nose: Smoked toffee, sooty bbq notes, rum bhaba, some seaside seaspray here too, dark loose leaf tea, baked apple stuffed with rum soaked raisins. Palate: Tarry toffee, sweet smoke and aromatic sherry wood, old tea chests, smoked dark chocolate, rum & raisin, oily and malty mouthfeel, bbq meat/savoury notes, coal smoke. Finish: Tarry and sooty terriyaki sauce, bbq smoke, rum soaked raisins, menthol, smoked toffee. An elegant quarter of a century old offering from Islay's oldest surviving distillery.
