A curious bottling - this Macallan 1947 was originally bottled for the Italian market in 1962 as a fifteen year-old, before being rebottled as part of the Fine and Rare range. During this period Macallan and other distilleries were forced to use peat in the kilns during the World War 2 period due to the high price of coal. NOSE: Peated, citrus fruits, chocolate orange with vanilla, oak notes in the background. PALATE: Light fruits with peat. Bitter chocolate and wood spice. FINISH: Lingering fruits and peat smoke.
