In 1993, when Jean-Charles Cazes became the owner of Lynch-Bages, there were a few white vines, of an undetermined grape variety, in the vineyard close to the main house. For a long time, they were used to supply table fruit to the villagers. . . . . . . . until 1978. That year, we decided to do a small harvest for white wine. This miniature production – less than 2 barrels – was quite successful with our friends, which encouraged us to persevere. In this way, after about ten years, we acquired new experience. In 1987 we planted a white vineyard of 5 hectares, at the entrance to Pauillac, this time respecting the traditional blend of Bordeaux grape varieties : sauvignon blanc, semillon and a little muscadelle.
