Witty is our version of a dry white vermouth. It starts with Sauvignon Blanc wine from the Wahluke Slope. We start a four stage process that infuses different herbs and spices into the wine and spirit bases. We use angelica, chamomile, lemon peel, rosemary, coriander, fennel, pao d’oro bark, orange peel, burdock root, cardamom, dried rose, sage, damiana, hyssop, thyme and marigold. It is sweetened to about 1. 25% sugar with a simple syrup cooked with bay leaf and vanilla bean. It is an acidic vermouth- great with gin and sake. It is a substitute for citrus in a cocktail when you want to add acid, but don’t want to use citrus. Recipe Old Pal: 1. 25 oz James Oliver Rye 1. 25 oz broVo Witty Vermouth 1. 25 oz Campari Stir with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange peel. Bronx Cocktail: 1. 5oz London 40 Gin . 75 oz broVo Witty Vermouth . 75 oz broVo Jammy vermouth 1 oz fresh orange juice Shake with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Expel an orange peel over the top and discard. Garnish with a cherry. Tres Jolie 2 oz broVo Witty Vermouth 1 oz broVo Jammy Vermouth . 5oz Monin Triple Sec Syrup 2 dashes aromatic bitters
Producer Welcome to our home! broVo is a collaborative, experimental distillery. We like to have fun, as well as make delicious products. We make liqueurs, amaro and vermouth. But what we really make is a handcrafted, delicious liquor that you can sip or mix. We make our products in the traditional way- we buy the base, and craft the flavors into it. We use a variety of techniques to impart the flavor into the liquor. We usually re-distill the base with botanicals. We sometimes infuse or macerate using the botanicals. Sometimes they are combined together, occasionally we infuse separately and combine the flavors together- a process called compounding. We believe in the ingenuity of bartenders. So much, that we work with them on a regular basis. They tell us their needs, they author our recipes, they use our spirits. We encourage you to try our spirits- taste the difference of real liquor, made from real plants.
