Producer Nicole Roskam-Brunot manages, with her family, the estate of Chateau Cantenac (St-Emilion Grand Cru) located in the South of the appellation. For over 70 years the family has produced elegant, fleshy expressions of St Emilion from its sandy-gravelly terroir. Since the 2005 vintage, the family has also taken over a 13-hectare property located in the Listrac-Medoc AOC, between Margaux and St Julien, Chateau La Lauzette Declerq (Cru Bouregois). Earl Vignobles Frans Roskam was created in September 2005 with the purchase of Chateau La Lauzette Declercq. The new estate has diversified the Roskam family activities, enabling them to offer a larger range of Chateau Wines. They now produce wine from over the 65 acres of vines, between the two estates. The winemakers are Liz and Frans Roskam. Frans is the fourth generation of winemakers from his family. Liz, was born in Illinois, and met Frans while on an exchange program in France, and soon married. In 2005 she became the first American woman to obtain the French Diplome d’Oenologie from Bordeaux. Both studied enology and viticulture and graduated from the University of Bordeaux.
