Château Montus is often referred to as 'The Cathedral of Tannat' and has been nicknamed the 'Petrus of the Southwest' by some critics. Winemaker Alain Brumont is credited with single-handedly proving that world-class wines could be made in the Madiran appellation. Wine Description The wine presents a dense, dark ruby colour with purple reflections. The complex aroma offers notes of dark plums, mulberries, blackcurrant, and blackberries, accented by hints of peppercorns, dried herbs, sweet spices, and a touch of leather. On the palate, the wine is rich and generous, displaying concentrated dark black fruits, a massive structure, and a deep tannic profile. Food Pairing This full-bodied wine is an excellent match for rich, full-flavoured dishes. Suggested pairings include grilled steak, roast beef, rack of lamb, or traditional French dishes like duck confit and cassoulet.
