Grape: Nebbiolo Tasting Notes: Cherry, Violets, Cedar, Tobacco The winery is named for Alfredo Prunotto, who bought a struggling Piedmont cooperative winery in 1923 and made it his own. His legacy continues today with the Antinori family. The Antinoris have moved the winery forward by investing in vineyards, equipment, and varietal analysis. Prunatto's entry-level Barolo was aged for at least 18 months in oak barrels of varying capacities. The wine is elegant, well-balanced, lacy, and well-structured with a silky texture, soft tannins, zesty acidity, and a lengthy finish. Cherry, strawberry, plum, violet, cedar, tobacco, orange peel, cinnamon, rosemary, and chocolate notes envelop the palate. It pairs well with slow-braised beef ribs, beef stew, duck breast in cherry sauce, or aged cheeses.
