Grape: Friulano Tasting Notes: White Grapefruit, Apple, Pear, Citrus Scarpetta is a Friulian-inspired brand created by Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey and former French Laundry Chef Lachlan Patterson. Scarpetta began in 2007 with 50 cases of old-vine Friulano to be sold at their restaurant Frasca. Demand was high, so they slowly expanded their product line. The light, gravelly soil of the western part of Friuli is perfect for producing light, aromatic, crisp white wines. This wine is no exception. It is crisp, clean, light to medium-bodied, and vibrant. The zesty palate exudes grapefruit, apple, pear, and citrus with floral nuances. Pair this wine with grilled fish, green vegetables, creamy pasta dishes, and salad.
