Caves des Vignerons de Buxy is a small, quality co-op located in the village of Buxy in the neighborhood of the Cote Challonaise--the small region that bridges the Cote de Beaune and the Maconnais. This is a collaboration of growers that pride themselves on quality farming and conscientious winemaking. Over the years Ive tasted a few wines made by this co-op but I gotta say, none of them hit quite like the Aligote which I think is an outstanding little wine for the money: fresh cream, green apples, crushed seashells, and a delightful salinity harmonize. This is oyster wine people--pour it up with the local harvest. Aligote takes a backseat to Chardonnay when it comes to White Burgundy but these wines can be incredibly charming, terroir-driven, and satisfying. There arent many presentable White Burgundies in this price range but this is a total gem. --Codey Foster, Wine Director
