Wine & Spirits Review
Kevin Hall makes this wine from two vineyards, most of it coming from the valley floor, with some fruit from a hillside site. Its bold red-raspberry flavors and supple, earthy tannins carry full-bore alcohol (it clocks in at 16. 1 percent). That alcohol comes across as spicy warmth, well incorporated when the wine is first poured. (After a day or two, the edges begin to fray). Delicious right out of the gate, this is a wine to pour with brisket.
This is a big wine with spicy aromas of blackberry, blueberry, dark chocolate, black pepper, oak, vanilla and tea leaves. There are spicy flavors of black pepper, blueberry, black cherry, chocolate and molasses. There is mouth filling texture with a long finish on this lush wine. This big wine calls for an equally rich food, try it with a long slow braised short rib, lamb shank or veal shank.
